Yakovlev-Vad
Back in the 60s, Yakovlev wanted a agile fighter jet that could be easily coverted into different variants, Yakovlev originaly thought of building a whole new aircraft from scratch but then later found out it would be much cheaper to convert old aircraft for the role. In the end the MIG-15 fitted the bill perfectly and Yakovlev orded 8,000 MIG-15s for coversion. There were many different variants of the now named Yakovlev-Vad (Named after one off the aerodynamic designers) ranging from ground attack fighters (This one) and high speed interceptors. There are quite a few aircraft left to this day as their werent many loses due to the aircrafts supior manuvurability which other aircraft at the time couldnt compete with. 111 Yakovlev-Vad's remain to this day and 9 of which are airworthy including this one, the first version of the ground attack variant. Most Yakovlev-Vad's are morst commonly seen flying along side MIG-15's at airshows. 1 For lights, 2 for landing lights and VTOL for flaps, Hope you enjoy :)
