YF-37 "Rapier"
(1-2) eject missiles. (3) activates afterburner. (4) activates weapons bay when landing gear are raised. The YF-37 is a Paternian 5/6th generation fighter jet designed by Paternian Defense Industries. The name "Rapier" is not official, and was likely made up by a model kit company. Development began in the early 2000's, and continued on until the 2030's, when the project was cancelled in light of the success of the F-35. 50 prototypes were manufactured. If there was anything that seemed purpose-built to attract conspiracy theorists, the YF-37 is certainly the aircraft of choice. It is a mysterious paradox; the general facts are very public, but details are sparse, if any. The type officially never saw combat. However, in conflicts around the world, reports of aircraft matching the YF-37's description appeared. The official response? No comment. Any details about any aspect of the aircraft seemingly answer nothing, but leave much to ask. Most details about its capabilities come mostly from other equipment employed by the Paternian Armed Forces.
