Designed as a light air-to-air combat aircraft, the DDG-1 (Destiny Design Group) Skate is an easy to maintain, easy to fly fighter. In fact, it was so successful that five variations were built using its airframe. The two most outlandish variants were the DDG-1A Astroskate, which at a moments notice could engage rocket thrusters built into the engines, and the DDG-1SP, which was used to test laser-based weapons systems. The Skate was eventually replaced and retired, being allocated to stunt shows and finding its way onto the black market.
