GALCA-15
Story of the project
Lightweight multirole airplanes are really important to give a cover to every aerial role with a smaller cost than heavyweight single role fighters.
That’s why, in 1994 GA decided to create an LCA with that could assure CAS, aerial superiority and electronic warfare.
They came out with the GA-EX15, the first prototype of a canard-delta wing aircraft. 13 years later, in 2007, the very first GA-LCA15 rolled out of production.
Combat History
It first saw action in 2009 during an aerial reconnaissance mission in Iraq. While patrolling, 2 LCAs got attacked by 3 MiG-23, but they quickly shot down two bandits in a BVR shot, while the third guy headed back to its base.
Equipment
They can be fitted with bombs, rockets and missiles. Here you get 2 IR tracking ShRAACoM missiles and a BVR Alabard missile, while for A-G just 2 rocket pods and 2 AHK-66 laser guided missiles. The cannon is a twin-barrel 26,9mm revolver gun.
