The TS-945 Stratosniper is an experimental concept designed to attack hostile armor or heavily defended positions from high altitude. Although it is not a gunship, it can engage other ground targets at low altitudes, but it is primarily designed to operate at altitudes of between 25,000 or 35,000 feet. The gun is a 150mm cannon housed in the large dome beneath the fuselage it supplied with 40 HE rounds and retains spent shells in a compartment in the lower fuselage. The targeting computer is housed in the hump on top of the fuselage. The Stratosniper is intended to orbit the battlefield and target heavy armor and other well defended positions. A fleet of Stratosnipers can theoretically provide artillery support and eliminate the need to transport and operate heavy artillery pieces on the battlefield.
