In 1966, a new project was underway in the R&D department of Fairlady . This project was for a new fighter aircraft to replace the ageing F-39. It would be a challenge for our company due to lack in jet engine research. Over the next 9 years, the F-45 would prove to be a successful aircraft. In 1970, the aircraft flown for the first time, clocking in a top speed of 975mph. The test pilot remarked it's handling, saying it was the best flying aircraft he had ever flown.

As all fighters of Fairlady entered service immediately, the F-45 was held back for one year for modifications. In 1972, the aircraft was fitted with new jet engines, canopy, nose cone, and cruise mode. The icing on the cake was the twin 20mm cannons that could fire at 35 rounds a second, allow it to tear through aircraft carriers.
