The fiat G.78 stagione was developed in 1929 for use on the new falco class aircraft carriers and for use on the on the second Julius Caesar class titan dreadnought which was going have its rear converted to a flight deck for traditional carrier based aircraft. It saw service as a reconnaissance and fighter aircraft and even saw a sea plane variant being developed in 1933
