Due to incapability of the Northern Navy to build their own ships, the Norths were built on the Sovereign Kingdom's Shipyards. They were built between 1854 to 1855 and was commisioned in 1856. The North Class were the smallest Pre Dreadnoughts ever been to service. All served on the Northern Home Fleet as they were intended to protect homeland waters.
