LS EA-11 Coonhound
*Retired*
The EA-11 Coonhound is an off shoot of the old but reliable warhorse the A-10. Now that the Anvil is coming off the assembly line in numbers and rapidly replacing remaining A-10's in front line units a decision had to be made as to the future of the Hammer. Fortunately while this was being deliberated Liberty Systems had the good fortune of working with Bandit Air Group and the Paternians on the Anvil project and was able to delve into their vast engineering and combat experience with the Pummeler. Their experience with EW (Electronic Warfare) aircraft and the success they had enjoyed in their utilization was the impetus for the Coonhound. Liberty Systems and the Midgardian Govt. set about with its development. What they ended up with is an old bird that is state of the art in all but flight performance although it does have outstanding loiter time. It was given a 3-man crew to assist with the extra workload, wing pods containing a modern EW array, FLIR,extensive ELINT and battlefield command abilities and precision weapon capability while retaining the nose mounted weaponry that earned the hammer its name. They will typically be fielded as a single unit sheperding and assisting flights of the faster and more nimble Anvils or other air and ground units as needed. Num pad 4 and 5 for precision bombs.
