HC-130J Combat King II

Hello everybody! This is my first real attempt at a scale plane!

The Real Plane

The HC-130J Combat King II is a search and rescue/ personnel recovery aircraft made by Lockheed Martin… (Yeah that’s all I got)

This Plane

Well, this is my first real attempt at a scale plane in SP and I am pretty happy with it. I tried to add in a bunch of scale details but a few are still missing since I currently don’t have the skills or patience to make them. I might add more details in the future, but I can’t now.

The markings on this plane aren’t from anything specific, they are just a combination of markings on planes that I searched up. Also, this was my first time making letters or numbers in SimplePlanes! They aren’t the best, but it’s hard (for me) to tell the difference between them and the real markings.

Features

This plane has custom control surfaces (my first attempt!), working flaps, custom landing gear, and flares. It doesn’t seem like much, but these really make the plane feel more realistic (at least for me). I would add things like a custom cockpit but there are some issues with those that I don’t know how to fix without making the plane look worse.

Controls

Elevator: Pitch

Aileron: Roll

Rudder: Yaw

Throttle: Throttle

Brake: Brake

VTOL: Flaps

Takeoff

To take off, use any amount of flaps that you want and add throttle (I have taken off with about 20 percent throttle so the amount of throttle doesn’t matter much). After about 120 mph (104.277 knots or 193.121 km/h), pull up slowly until the plane leaves the ground.

Landing

After you have had all of your fun flying this thing around you might feel the need to land, if you do, then just line up on the runway and lower throttle to 20 percent. Once you are above the runway, lower the throttle to about 12 percent and lightly pull up to keep a slow rate of descent. The nose will drop if you pass below around 100 mph (86.8976 knots or 160.934 km/h), so be careful about this. The plane will start to lose altitude above these speeds though, so you can safely land with the nose up.
I don’t usually use flaps while landing because it just stops me from being able to flare properly and land with the nose up. The flaps do help a lot to slow down the plane though, so I do use them in flight sometimes. I also use the flaps when I am just messing around and I need more elevator for something.

I hope you like the plane and please tell me if there is something that I can improve!
Have Fun!
