J-7 is a single seat single engine supersonic jet fighter developed by Shenyang aircraft factory in 1960s. The J-7 is a copy of the Soviet MiG-21 ? - 13. The aircraft was later transferred to Chengdu aircraft factory and Guizhou aircraft factory for subsequent improvement and mass production

    @asteroidbook345 China did made MD-82s actrually in the past btw
    Some of the ARJ's aerodynamic designs might come from experiences building MD-82.

    @TheMegaMauster well they done pretty reverse engineering in the past, but they dont do that now.

    @TheMegaMauster It's the ARJ-21, and it looks like a combo between an MD-80 and a CRJ-700. It's not reverse engineered.

    They also kinda did the same with the MD-80, they reverse engineered it and called it the ARJ-15 I think.@asteroidbook345

    @TheMegaMauster That's partly because they had an alliance with Stalin, but when he died Khrushchev undid it and they had to make do with what they already had, which was a bunch of MiG-15s, 19s, and a few MiG-21s with limited technical documents.

    @TheMegaMauster Yeah just a Chinese MiG-21 with a different wing. They also fixed 249 inherent problems with the MiG-21 when they reverse engineered it.
