AXP F78F-1 Persephone (REDUX)
The Persephone was designed as a mid range interceptor for use to defend islands where it was very well suited because of its short take off run, her introduction was in 1949, a mere 4 years after Jet technology was mainstream tech. She was fairly unimpressive armament wise, with only 4x23mm RAC-43 Cannons all mounted in the nose, she served from 1949 to officially in 1956 but was used all the way up to the very early 2000s as target drones and test beds for early AAMs and AGMs, she is currently used by several 3rd world countries who could not afford anything more high tech. She was also able to detach her fuel tanks on the end of the wings once they were empty, which people thought it was a new aircraft w/o its tanks, so they started calling it the banshee, so Aircraft identifier sheets often had the Persephone and Banshee as 2 different aircraft. She was also sub sonic, but during a border skirmish w/ another nation, a Persephone was in a dive and reportedly broke the sound barrier but it is highly unlikely because of its rip speed which is rated at around 710 Mph.
