This duo of aircraft represent two versions of the same concept: a fighter that uses a single high-bypass turbofan as it's engine. The so-called H-fighters take their name from the resulting distinctive H-shape. The one in the rear, with the engines further away, was the first version whereas the second one was a development aimed at making it actually useful
