Republic P47 Thunderbolt

82.7k SimplyPlain  4.9 years ago

The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was a World War II era fighter aircraft produced by the United States from 1941 through 1945. Its primary armament was eight .50-caliber machine guns and in the fighter-bomber ground-attack role it could carry five-inch rockets or a bomb load of 2,500 pounds (1,103 kg). When fully loaded, the P-47 weighed up to eight tons, making it one of the heaviest fighters of the war. The P-47 was designed around the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine, which was also used by two U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps fighters, the Grumman F6F Hellcat and the Vought F4U Corsair. The Thunderbolt was effective as a short-to medium-range escort fighter in high-altitude air-to-air combat and ground attack in both the European and Pacific theaters. (AG1) for nav lights, (AG2) to drop bombs, (AG3) to unlock tail gear steering. Have fun...

@SimplyPlain well I genuinely do think you did a very nice job with the shape of the aircraft :). So I wasn't just trying to flatter you for an ulterior motive :)

@DeezDucks Sure, go ahead. Flattery will get you everywhere LOL... it makes a nice pair with your P51, that's for sure. Can't wait to see the P38.

Wow really good job with the body shape and the wings. Would you mind if I potentially use your P-47 in a few screenshots? I'm building a P-38J and I think it'd look really cool to have it, my P-51C and your P-47 all lined up :)

My god this is an exceptionally well built thunderbolt. In all honesty I think it’s probably the best looking one on the website. Fantastic job and I’m looking very forward to seeing even more of your builds
