STRIX: A mythical creature with the wings and body of a large grey owl, the STRIX has a massive beak and long talons, the fangs of a wolf, and a petrifying scream. It is also said to be able to fire its feathers to attack its foes with arrow-like precision. The STRIX, in the mythology of classical antiquity, was a carnivorous beast that fed on human flesh and blood. By the time of the high renaissance the legend of the STRIX is believed to have inspired the invention of the gargoyle.

The STRIX is a medium sized, advanced technology stealth fighter and reconnaissance aircraft capable of reaching high speeds and altitudes.

+++ ACTIVATION GROUPS +++
1 - BOOSTER ENGINES: Engages the CONSTELLATION integrated engine system, which includes an enhanced gyro-stabilization unit (on whenever AG-1 is active), a pair of XENON low visibility cruise engines (normal throttle), a RADON extreme thrust boost engine (VTOL bar up), and the anti-gravity GRAVITON VTOL motor (VTOL bar down).
2 - MAIN LASER BATTERY: Activates the DRAKE's main heavy weaponry, a pair of COSMIC RAY gamma radiation cannons.
3 - MAIN PARTICLE WEAPON: A proton guided heavy ION CANNON.
4 - AIR to AIR MISSILES: Activates the FANG advanced AA missile system (Interceptor based; total missile load: 12 units).
5 - AIR to GROUND MISSILES: Activates the TALON advanced AG cruise missile system (Cleaver based; total missile load: 8 units).
6 - ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS: Activates two STAR BURST aft firing anti-aircraft laser cannons.
7 - RECONNAISSANCE: Activates the ARGUS surveillance system and launches the IRIS photo bomb - a small free-fall camera suspended from a parachute. Deactivating the AG releases the camera from the parachute.
8 - DEFAULT SYSTEMS: Deactivating this group disconnects the main UMBRA reactor, deactivating all active sensors, as shown by extinguishing the various engine, radar, and running lights.
