[OLD] Vontaran SC-122A Styra
UPDATE:
I changed the shape of the air frame, the style of the aesthetics, and the weight of the engines.
HISTORY:
Being the first multi-role star fighter Outland Industries has ever built, the Space Craft Type-122A Styra was the first and last great star fighter of the Vontaran Federation. Unlike the SC-121 Bugan, the SC-122 was faster and more maneuverable, that's because Outland designed the SC-122 with the intention of being a dog fighter. The SC-122 was normally used by Vontara's elite pilots for engaging the more resilient enemies on the battlefield. It was also used to defend their home world from foreign aggressors. The SC-122 was allocated to these two roles because the Vontaran military relied more on hit-and-run interception tactics to attack and liberate targeted planets. When the forces of the ISC started improving their ways of countering these tactics during the Great War, Vontara had to adapt by going back towards traditional dog fighting. This required a dramatic increase in production of the SC-122, which the Vontarans could not achieve due to their crumbling economy coupled with their worsening position in the war. Only a couple thousand SC-122s were built during that time. Not only that, but the SC-122, despite its improvements over the SC-121, was easily out-matched by ISC fighters such as the SF-1. Outland Industries did develop designs for a new generation of better fighters to replace the SC-122. But before any new fighters could be built, soldiers of the Xenan Imperial Army managed to capture the Vontaran capital city and the Great War came to an end. The Vontaran federal government collapsed along with many of the old war-time factories. The last remaining SC-122s were either in custody of the Vontaran Liberation League (VLL) or the Vontaran Socialist Republic (VSR), the latter of which had them heavily modified with help from the Xenan occupation.
ARMAMENT:
14x short ranged unguided air-to-ground rockets
4x medium ranged radar guided fire-and-forget air-to-ground inferno missiles
2x medium ranged radar guided air-to-air guardian missiles
2x long ranged radar guided fire-and-forget air-to-air interceptor missiles
Dual 50 cal. PAG Type-3 machine guns
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS AND ADVICE:
Do not pitch down too hard or too quickly while launching a missile or a rocket, otherwise it might collide with the craft and destroy it mid-flight.
The SC-122 can maneuver better than the SC-121 but it is still relatively slow compared to other fighters. Pilots can attempt dog fighting in this fighter but they not attempt to chase other fighters or escape from being chased by other fighters. Pilots absolutely must engage in an actual dog fight when confronted by enemies.
