Electronic Scale

67.1k SnoWFLakE0s  1.9 years ago

With the power of Funky Trees, I bring you... the electronic scale.

This is exactly what it sounds like it is. It measures the mass of things, and you just need to gently place an object on the measuring area to get a reading of the mass of the object.

Controls

  1. ON/OFF Button: On/off toggle.
  2. TARE Button: tare the scale. Will set current load as the reference point.
  3. UNIT Button: unit conversion between kilograms and pounds. Current unit type will be displayed on the LCD.
  4. FREEZE Button: for those measurements that simply won't settle. Press to enable the freeze function (displayed on LCD), which freezes the displayed measurement until unfreezed.
  5. LIGHT Button: backlight for the LCD for easier reading.
  6. MEM SAVE Button: save the current value in memory for recall.
  7. MEM DISP Button: recall the stored value and display it. Toggled.

This is something I came up with quickly after just thinking about the variable output unique to shocks (springs). Surprised it wasn't done already, but here it is for you to play with, in a glorious form factor known to many students of science familiar with analytical chemistry for the notorious inability to give precise measurements if you do as much as breathe on the device. In the same spirit, this device has been built to no reasonable precision standard and is rather janky. I may or may not update it to be more usable.

I do not take responsibility for the production of any illicit substances manufactured in the SimplePlanes universe with the assistance of this device.

Your answer came at the right moment,I made some tests about it this morning, and this is what I found:

If you put a shock ahead of your véhicule with a high of 0.1, characteristics at their lowest and partCollisionResponse on none, when the shock touches a solid object it will go through it, and output a negative value depending on how close from you the object is/how far the shock is in it.

Now the only part that's left to you is to find how to transform this output into a correct distance value using ft.

@BRNavyPilot I think you could put invisible pistons way ahead of your vehicle and use their output to detect contact. This does mean you won't be able to advance when close to a wall due to the piston hitting it.

Hi, Snow. I want to know if there's a way to make something like a laser based distance meter or something like this. Let's say that i don't want to let a car or a hover hit any wall in its front, how do i make the thing know when and where to stop before hitting the wall? Like, WITHOUT MODS, to avoid letting my computer EXPLODE in my face by don't being able to handle the performance cost of any MOD. Thanks.

Wait, springs have a variable output? I've spent way too long trying to get an output from control bases

Clearly it's baking soda. At least that's what the kids tell me. I'm amazed by how precise their baking has become.

    Suspicious substances on the scale....
    Might be salt.
    Might be snow.
But I think it's crystal Math.
