Only 1 ClassicLiner was ever built and it was part of a series of Minnesota Smith films in the early 1990's. Hollywood wanted to recreate scenes from the 1920's but there weren't any existing aircraft airworthy enough to do the job. Smith Flight Works was hired to create a classic looking aircraft and in short order. The airplane was registerred as "experimental" and logged only about 1000 hours before it was grounded. Scheduled to be put on display at the EAA museum in Oshkosh, WI, the ClassicLiner crashed in route and was completely destroyed.
