The Haunt is easily the most famous and powerful warplane of the Oshkoshian Empire, a neo-feudal State spanning much of the shores of the Great Lakes. This Empire's origins lay in the importance of Oshkosh's Crumbling-era aviation sector, which was survived and was sustained by claiming taxes and protecting neighboring lands with both surviving utility aircraft and newly-built ones made for post-Crumbling conditions.
The realm of military aviation is strictly restricted to the nobility. As each pilot is raised from childhood for the task, Oshkoshian aircraft are often unconventional, possess powerful engines by American standards, and are often more difficult to master, being made expecting high-quality pilots. Haunts in particular are the biggest status symbol: Heavy strike fighters, with high upkeep costs yet capable of carrying massive amounts of ordnance, as this aircraft's bomb payload, ventral 50 mm cannon , 6 .75 inch cannons and two .75 inch rotary cannons show. On top of this, Haunts are fast, long-ranged aircraft.
