M24 Chaffee
This... This build has exceeded all my expectations(and part limits). When I started it, I thought I was going to make a half-*ed tank with a crummy interior. But in the end, it ended up looking quite decent(although not even half as good as the better tank builds out there). I even ended up adding some funky trees into the mix(although the expressions are far from simplified, even if they are simple)
All, in all, this may be... no... it is my best tank build... scratch that... my best build so far. So without further-a-do...
Features
in no specific order
- Detailed turret interior
- Semi-detailed drive's seat(I had to cut some parts, since it was getting very laggy for me)
- Semi-detailed engine(I didn't bother to do the wiring)
- Working commander's cupola(you can pop you're head out!)
- Has gun sights!
- Has recoil effect and casing ejection!(I love to watch the latter in slow motion in the gunners seat)
- Two(2) turret traverse modes(I don't really know what you call them but one follows roll, while the other... er... also follows roll, but stops when roll is at 0)
- Gun elevation and depression has only one mode, but it has both modes integrated into it(using Pitch instead, of course)!
- The gun has a STABILIZER(w/ adjustable sensitivity, kinda...)!!
- Engine works semi-realistically!(not really sure of this, but on flat ground, it maintains it's max speed, but is also able to climb a slope of at most, 30 degrees)
- MA DEUCE
- Has a speed indicator and fuel indicator(and two more which I just place random funky trees expressions into!)
- Explodes kinda realistically, and the turret comes off(Although this was tested before adding most of the aesthetics, so it might not be there anymore)
- Coaxial and hull-mounted MGs(Although the hull one is not controlable, but has a higher spread, since in real life, there was no way to aim it)
- Has a driver's hatch, which also opens up, and even a windscreen for the driver!(Assistant driver's hatch does not open, sadly)
- Engine compartment can be opened!
- (Edit)Also, it has smoke. I forgot to put this
Controls
Pitch : Gun elevation and depression
Roll : Turret/gun traverse
Yaw : Hull traverse
VTOL : Forward/reverse
Trim : Stabilizer sensitivity(for the main gun), although I recommend you leave it at the middle
-UP = less sensitive
-DOWN = more sensitive
AG1 :Toggles the turret traverse setting
AG2 :Stabilizer
AG3 :Activates mounted Browning M2(but also deactivates
turret control) Cannot activate if AG1 is on
AG4 :Toggles hull and coaxial MGs
AG5 :Driver's hatch
AG6 :Engine compartment. It will only open if turret is
perpendicular(sideways, about 90 degrees from
starting position). You can try to open it even if your
turret is at 0 degrees, but it won't :)
AG7 :Cupola hatch

Short Description
The M24 Chaffee (officially Light Tank, M24) is an American light tank used during the later part of World War II; it was also used in post–World War II conflicts including the Korean War, and by the French in the War in Algeria and the First Indochina War. In British service it was given the service name Chaffee after the United States Army General Adna R. Chaffee Jr., who helped develop the use of tanks in the United States armed forces. M24s were mostly removed from U.S. and NATO armies by the 1960s, but remained in service with some Third World countries.

Note:
I made this on low physics setting, so I'm not sure how it would act in medium or high
Also, testing for the final thing was hindered, because when I spawn it, fps drops so much(I would play with it at 10-20fps). Such a shame I can't use it.
It might be a bit slippery
Took me a friggin week to make this
Also, sorry if the description is too long
Special Thanks to:
SnoWFLakE0s
- For helping me learn some funky trees stuff and python!
- Also, the casing ejection is a (very) slightly modified version of his, so thanks if you're reading this!

Very neat

Please make a tracks 2 modded one
This is an amazing build, absolutely incredible, my only issue is that the turret traverse will also turn the tank itself
Dang that animation for the barrel
A what???
@DarDragon A WHAT?
Ah yes,the no armor tank.
@RAAF GMT+8
@RAAF hmmm you're right... that's weird. It is a well known tank
@CeeToTheZee Probably because the thumbnail sucks
@243687034 It's only to simulate gear changing, so I couldn't really make it "manual." But yes, an automatic chaffee
How this hasn't reached the top of featured is perplexing
Automatic transmission....
@SnoWFLakE0s Thanks!
Cool, good job!
@jamesPLANESii Yea thought so too. I'm not really good at making those
fun fact, some LVT amphibious tanks had M24 turrets
.
therefore it became a land battleship
Ooerh that’s not a good thumbnail choice...
Also, thanks everyone!
HAHAHA Thanks @Zanedavid !
This needs more upvotes wtf
OOOOOHHHHH YEEAAAAAAAHHH MR CRABS!!!!!!
@ProcessedPlAnEs Thanks! it took a while to make
