Okay, maybe this jet is a bit more maneuverable at low speeds. But at high speeds, the Hummingbird is more agile. @Areonautics3

Enough flaws to say that it sucks. The Hummingbird is faster, more maneuverable with flaps, and has a better gun, a single M12 20mm rotary cannon or a single M7 30mm rotary cannon, the latter which can kill bridges and is comparable to the M9 cannon found on virtually all NFK fighters in terms of performance. @Areonautics3

Well, if we sucker them into dogfights at close range. Pummeler pilots will usually assume defensive flying patterns such as a Thatch Weave or Defensive Circle. Experienced pilots will often be wary of such formations, but inexperienced pilots often dive into the fray and get shot down.

Of course, boom and zoom tactics are effective, but the poor offensive firepower limits the ability to conduct such attacks.

The only advantage a jet has over a WWII prop fighter in a class is dogfight is raw speed. @Areonautics3

All fights were at close range, since mid and long range performance would be the same since Pummeler A-1B is compatible with M6 Active Illumination Air-Air Homing Missile aka the Guardian, and the M7 Self-Tracking Air-Air Homing Missile aka the Interceptor. Such an engagement would be a 50/50 win chance for either type. This leaves the close-range dogfights to be determined. The bombs and rockets were removed from both types as it is standard procedure to dispose of wing stores nonessential to air combat, such as bombs and rocket pods. Jammer pods are never discarded and drop tanks are usually discarded unless they are necessary to return to base. @Areonautics3

We tested it against a Verki, other than when this aircraft was diving....the Verki was normally faster and more manuverable. @Areonautics3 @Pilotmario

Air-air missiles were not included since Pummeler can equip them too until recent tests. With both aircraft with two Guardians in close combat, the Pummeler won handily. In head-on gunnery passes, the Pummeler has the advantage. The 8 M2 12.7mm aircraft guns, lightened and electrically-fired variants of the M26 machine gun, can put down 56 plane-shredding projectiles a second. The peashooter in the nose can only do 7. @Areonautics3

All tests against the Pummeler A-1B at close range with both machines under AI control indicated Pummeler A-1B would win in a dogfight despite th Osiris' lower wing loading and higher power-weight ratio. All external munitions were removed. @Areonautics3
