How about a jackhammer hovercraft/spacecraft? Use multiple jackhammers for balance and for directional control increase the number of bangs per second with one jackhammer/thruster on one side of the craft long enough to tilt in the intended direction and fly in a way that is similar to how a helicopter does except without the airflow. Its basically a lower-tech ufo.
