On January 20, 1945, Nakajima Aircraft Factory officially received a commission from the Army to begin joint development of a so-called local decisive aircraft, which would later become the Ki-115, in cooperation with Nakajima Mitaka Research Institute and Ota Production Institute. The design calls for the aircraft to dive from an altitude of 600 meters with the bomb at more than 500 kilometers per hour, and at the end of the dive speed of nearly 800 kilometers per hour to increase the kinetic energy of the collision with the American warship. The Army planned to complete production of 6,000 Ki-115s between July 1945 and April 1946, in a rush for decisive action on home soil. The resulting Ki-115 is a single-engine single-seat cantilever single-wing, lightweight piston aircraft with a conventional aerodynamic layout, which is remarkable in a dedicated attack aircraft. But it is hard to say what the decisive factor is, except for two words - simple and economical. Therefore, the fuselage uses thin steel pipe as a bearing frame, and the cross-section of the fuselage uses the simplest round, and the skin is made of thin steel leather - disposable consumables do not have the right to use the so-called "strategic materials" - aluminum alloy.
