In 1942 the LuffWaffe sent out a request for a Heavy bomber with a speed of over 200 MPH. Messerschmitt's design was chosen and produced. With it being cheap and the preferred engine in high quantity it was mass products. It was successful throughout the War. Especially during the Blitzkrieg bombings of Britan.
It's main advantage was it was able to run on only 2 engines
