PN-0 Vintage Biplane

59 SuperPatriot76  9.3 years ago

A somewhat generic rendition of the classic biplane circa WWI. Influenced mainly by the Sopwith Camel, and the Stearman, I tried to replicate the minimalistic structure and its limitations. Its primitive taildragging landing gear with its nose up 12° on level ground (cannot see in front of you), coupled with a tendency to face-plant with even the slightest braking input (could not disable) (early planes had no brakes) makes takeoffs and landings hazardous and frustrating to cater to masochists or history buffs such as yourself. Like anything else, practice makes perfect. A landing is basically just a carefully controlled stall mere inches above the ground (Approx 45mph). Slow and steady wins this race. Fly LOW but LEVEL, slow down to 45mph, pull back fully on the stick until you come to a full stop. This is all easier said than done. If you can land this relic, you can land any taildragger, and are a TRUE pilot in my book. Updates: Removed accidentally added wing segment near the engine's left side. (Now v1.01)
