Rifle, Magazine, Self-Loading, 7.62mm, M11A1SM
The M11 is a Paternian gas-operated semi-automatic rifle based off the existing M10 bolt-action rifle. The M11A1 is based off of the M10A1, which is a shortened M10 rifle. The M11 and M11A1 incorporate other improvements to the M10 such as a drum-dial rear sight mounted on the receiver and a 10- or 20-round detachable box magazine. The 10-round box magazine was preferred due to its greater reliability in the weapon. Although replaced by the M16 rifle in 1964, the M11 continues to see service in the Paternian Army as a marksman rifle. This particular model, the M11A1SM (for scope mount), is a standard M11A1, selected at the factory from production lots for higher-than-average accuracy, and then had a scope mount electro-welded onto the side. This mount in particular is an M81 4x scope, with radium (and later, tritium) illuminated crosshairs for use in low-light conditions. The M11A1SM is still manufactured, albeit from the factory than from picking from production lots the most accurate rifles.

We still use the M11A1SM as a designated marksman's rifle. In addition, troops stationed in deserts and mountainous environments are still issued M11 rifles since their longer effective range is more important than the firepower offered by M4A1 and M16A5. @MemeKingIndustriesAndMegaCorporation
