Heroes of War Challenge
“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” ~ Winston Churchill
Intro:
From the skies of Europe and slopes of Vienna to the deserts of the middle east and the waves of the Atlantic, war brings out the worst and best of humanity. No matter what side you may be on, there will be heroes to take up the responsibility of overcoming the odds. Either 1 man or battalions, poor to rich, men or women, these heroes can come from anywhere.
This challenge is to share the story of these men and women who in the time of need took the stand. For this challenge, you will need to build something to remember a hero of your choose. These builds can be replicas of aircraft, weapon, vehicles, ships, etc used by your hero, fuselage art, propaganda, or more. Examples of possible builds and stories:
-588th Night Bomber Regiment (Night Witches) : Polikarpov Po-2
-Bismark : Bismarck-class battleship
-Merchant Fleet : Liberty ship
-Red Baron : Fokker Dr. 1
-Audie Murphy : Burning M-10 TD
-Charles Carpenter : L-4 Grasshopper
The challenge is also two part. The second part of the challenge is your description, where you must tell the hero's story. You will not be judged based off of the heroics or impact of story, but how well you tell it. I sum it up nicely in the judging: Is it just a copy paste from wiki or is it well researched?

@Greggory005 Your hero can be of any gender, an example are the Night Witches of the USSR. And about war, no. 9/11 first responders would be a good example. Because the 9/11 attacks lead to war on terror, 9/11 responders are considered war heros. This goes with conflicts that while may not be considered war, fighting still took place or lead directly to war. Just remember you have to build a build related to them and their story.
@QuitePossiblyMangled sure, not like I'm really winning but I just want tok see how good I've done and what I've done wrong so I was getting really curious
I know, I just got a new phone so let me start grading after school @Greggory005
@QuitePossiblyMangled hi , its 8th Feb ya know
I'll do Ernst Barkmann Panther Ausf.A and Michael Wittmann Tiger I Ausf.E
Ah yes 2 entries per person
I'm going to do a BF-109 for franz stegler.
@NormalPioneer no, they must be real people
@SyntheticL The list was a few examples, but it's not a complete list of heroes
You could add 303 Kosciuszko Squadron of the RAF to your example of war heroes.
@QuitePossiblyMangled but I'm already building a plane for another challenge, but I'll try to make bazooka charlie if I have the chance
@Northsoutheastthrop Don't say that. You never know, you may overcome the competition. You have a shot at to reach first place, and a good one too.
Too high level for my liking, but I'll want to see what the pros of come up with
@QuitePossiblyMangled Ah it was a foxtrot ewwwww
Here is a blueprint of the ship as well
@AsteroidAsteroidTheBook B-59 : Project 641/Foxtrot-class diesel-electric submarine
@QuitePossiblyMangled Ah yes. But what class of submarine was he on?
@AsteroidAsteroidTheBook His name was Vasili Arkhipov
God I wish I knew what class of submarine that Soviet lieutenant was on when he stopped WWIII
@QuitePossiblyMangled alright I'm in anyway!
I asked can I wanted to challenge myself to make a DC-10
@Greggory005 Im gonna have to say no sorry. I am trying to keep this contained into more specific category. The 9/11 attacks lead to war on terror, which is why 9/11 responders are included
@QuitePossiblyMangled I was asking if it could be a cpt of a commercial aircraft who saved lives
@Cabbage17 It's fine
@QuitePossiblyMangled i know it should be obvious but does the hero need to be a man from war?
Welp, I'm in.
