Here is some fictional history:
The LindV Aeronautics Firm, or LVAF for short, mostly developed fighter aircraft. But, in 2987, they received a call from top US officials to create a heavy multi-role aircraft. The requirements were that it had to go over 400 miles per hour, seat a crew of two, and carry missiles and/or bombs. The result was the DA-2230 Gladius.
