Welcome to the Fastest Racing on Earth
history
The IndyCar Series, currently known as the NTT IndyCar Series under sponsorship, is the highest class of American open-wheel car racing in the United States, which has been conducted under the auspices of various sanctioning bodies since 1920 after two initial attempts in 1905 and 1916. The series is self-sanctioned by its parent company, IndyCar, LLC., which began in 1996 as the Indy Racing League (IRL) and was created by then Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Tony George as a competitor to Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). In 2008, the IndyCar Series merged with CART's successor, the Champ Car World Series and the history and statistics of both series, as well as those from its predecessors, were unified.
The series' premier event is the Indianapolis 500, which was first held in 1911. Historically, open-wheel racing was one of the most popular types of U.S. motorsport nationwide. However, an acrimonious schism (often referred to by many as "The Split") in 1994 between the primary series, CART, and Tony George led to the formation of the Indy Racing League, which launched the rival IndyCar Series in 1996. From that point on, the popularity of open wheel racing in the U.S. declined dramatically. The feud was settled in 2008 with an agreement to merge the two series under the IndyCar banner, but enormous damage had already been done to the sport. Post-merger, IndyCar continues to run with slight viewership gains per year.

Arrow McLaren
The IndyCar Series operation of McLaren, competing as Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team due to sponsorship, is based in Indianapolis and was founded by former IndyCar driver Sam Schmidt in 2001 as Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM). The team operates the Nos. 5, 6 and 7 Dallara-Chevrolet entries for Pato O'Ward, Nolan Siegel, and Christian Lundgaard respectively.
McLaren has a history of competing in American open wheel racing, as both an entrant and a chassis constructor. As an entrant, McLaren won the Indianapolis 500 in 1974 and 1976, with a McLaren chassis also winning in 1972. Following one-off Indy 500 returns in 2017 and 2019, the latter of which they did not qualify for, McLaren announced plans to compete in the full IndyCar Series starting in 2020 in partnership with the Schmidt Peterson team.
Following two wins in 2021 with O'Ward, McLaren Racing announced it had purchased a 75% stake in Schmidt Peterson Motorsports with its CEO Zak Brown named chairman, increasing to 100% after 2024.
In 2024 NASCAR champion, Kyle Larson running for Hendrick Motorsports, ran in the Indy 500. Kyle had been testing an indycar through out the off season and leading up to the race and had been running well. The Indy 500 and Coke 600, both considered crown jewels of their sports, are held on the same day and Kyle would be the first to attempt it since Tony Stewart in 1999 and 2001.
Leading up to the race Larson would qualify well, and excitement built for the race. Unfortunately the Indy 500 would be postponed due to rain and he would have to make the decision, run the Indy 500, or try and run Charlotte, and he ended up running the full Indy 500. The plan was to immediately run from Indy and fly to Charlotte in time before the race ended so he can be credited with the running the race, which made him eligible for the Championship. The coke 600 was delayed for rain, and then eventually called later that night, with Larson not being able to run. He appealed to be able to stay in the championship but under a penalty.
My livery is a fictional design but heavily based on typical Arrow McLaren liverys.

Builders note: This is a rather old project, first being worked on right around the season opener for the 2024 indycar season and at the time I wasn't as skilled as I am now and got stuck trying to mold the side pods, but after a few months and a few more projects I got the confidence to work on it again and it went much smoother. As a whole I wanted this to be the best IndyCar on the site and I hope I succeeded. I hope to soon start an older model indycar soon, but we'll see what my upload schedule looks like. Hope you enjoy driving this thing around! In testing this thing can do around 1:05 around the gold prix raceway so quite respectable.
Extra plain version with less text labels
big thanks to Linus for his original Transmission code that I modified, Kerbango for his help with text labels, and to Krioxo for his help with testing, thanks bros!
Keep looking to the stars

@RicardoACE Thanks for the spot brother!
@VinFage yes that will be made. And the reverse i couldn't figure out with the coding so I just left it. I'll try and figure it out for the oval version
Great work! Will you make one for oval variant?
Also, it's weird that you can't go reverse considering modern IndyCars have one, which they used to don't have one decades ago.
@TheNewSPplayer agreed lol. Road course package is goated especially some of the liveries
Bro, i think Indy cars are more beautiful that F1
@PapaKernels wy :steamhappy:

@PapaKernels yeah
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 ah it might be leaders I was thinking about
@PapaKernels I would beg to differ, the first 3 and the last 3 are pretty much all the same, but between those it changes a good amount
@PapaKernels ywwww :))
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 yea exactly. Most of the time you can watch the first lap and the last lap and it's pretty much the same running order
@Tingly06822 thanks! Ended up figuring out those side pods 😂
@PapaKernels yeah, the problem with F1, is that there are like 3 people 5-10sec ahead and then other people way back
awesome, phenomenal job brother👏
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 yea more exciting 😂. Means they're closer together and able to make mistakes
@SuperSuperTheSylph thanks!
@PapaKernels for what i've seen indycar has more crashes and stuff
