The Ford Interceptor Utility (Explorer) became the Elizabeth City Police Department's primary fleet vehicle after the discontinuance of the Crown Victoria. ECPD maintains a fleet of over 140 Interceptor utilities for its patrol division, with several unmarked variants serving in administrative, investigative, and special response duties. In the EC Metro area, the Interceptor Utility is also used by the Greater Lafayette County Drug Task Force and certain SERA units.
