Mahan Air was established in 1991 as a Full-Service Carrier (FSC) and began operations in June 1992 as Iran's first private airline. The name of Mahan is taken from the historical city of Mahan in Kerman Province. The airline joined the IATA in 2001 and is owned by Mol-Al-Movahedin Charity.more
Mahan Air decided to buy some XJ-200 for short haul flights like Bandar Abas to Kish Island.Because they couldn't buy 737 or A320,Because Iran and specialy Mahan Air are in USA lockout.They ordered 38 XJ-200 and 4 XJ-200B.X Aircraft Manufacturer Has delivered 5 XJ-200 to Mahan Air on 12th November 2003 and they promise to deliver remaining airplanes until 2030.(This story is definately fictional.)
The XJ-200 (NATO reporting name: "Caesar") was a trijet airliner, developed in 1956. The aircraft could carry about 155 passengers in a 2 - 3 cabin layout. It only needed 2 pilots to operate, which was very rare on early jets.Main post
