Junkers Ju-86 D-1

30.0k Dumpworks  8.5 years ago

A bomber monoplane built by germany to fill the bomber role, though it wasn't as good as the Heinkel He-111 as it had a small "bombay" where small bombs were mounted vertically behind the cockpit, so most heavy loads were carried externally and it had diesel engines instead of petrol engines, the diesel engine did not have good combat endurance and often the engines were slow to acclerate, to keep the Ju-86 alive Junkers created the Ju-86P which was a high altitude recon version but once aircaft could reach the Ju-86P altitude the Ju-86 was discontinued and only one exists in Sweden (activators 1 for top gun, 2 for belly gondola, 3 for front gun, trim tab for landing gears)
