Bleriot XI 1909
just to remind you the rules of flying Edwardian designs
1.DO NOT DO AREOBATICS -or you will crash
2. DO NOT OVER WING WARP -or you will crash
3. DO NOT KET GO OF THAT ELEVATOR -or you will crash
4. DO NOT DO ANITHING BUT PITCH UP ON TAKEOFF -or you will crash-and burn
5. Don't moan at me because you aren't a good enough pilo
And 6. Don't call the pioneers ANITHING but heroes
Anyway I'll just copy paste my old description right
HERE
Bleriot XI owned by shuttleworth is oldest flyable aircraft in the world (weather permitting) unfortunately you have to be on a Realy calm evening airshow in the summer for the Edwardians to fly so HAVENT seen this one yet
[YOUTUBE VIDIO (not mine)]
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RkJymMK33Zk
This vid shows it flying IRL you should check out the creators YouTube channel cause he has lots of becautiful aircraft vids :)
WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT TO OTHER BLERIOTS IN THE SITE
REALISTIC COCKPIT VEIW
REALISTIC FRAMEWORK
REALISTIC ENGINE
REALSITIC WINGs
REALISTIC WING WARPING
REALISTIC HANDLING *;)*
REALISTIC LANDING GEAR
REALSITIC CRASH-ABILITY??
WHAT ISNT REALISTIC!
It's **ALOT** faster than the real one
It doesn't cover you woth oil and give you carbon monoxide poisoning if you fly it!
It isn't 100 years old so you can crash it and not get shouted at!
:)
ENJOY
HISTORY (not many ppl read this bit)
Louis Bleriot was a french engineer who was famous at the time for inventing the first practical car headlamp,
He then turned to aircraft and his first designs were all faliures ..
Mainly to do with the flapping wings he then met pioneer Gabriel Voisin another Frenchman he shows Bleriot a demonstration of a glider he made in 1905. Inspired Bleriot dessigned a similar machine the Bleriot II he then worked with Voisin to create the faliures Bleriot III&IV he then made the canard design (tail Infront of pilot) Bleriot V that unfortunately crashed and ended up arriving at the tractor monoplane design for his Bleriot Vii the xi used the VII design with a more powerful anziani 25hp air cooled 3 cylinder fan engine and a propellor made by LucienChauviere The engine was prone to overheating but was reliable and the propellor was the best in Europe at the time, after he crossed the channel orderes from militaries and aviators poured in and by 1914 almost all military aircraft were Bleriot XI's in the space between 1909-1914 over 900 were made!
This is a replica of The channel XI :)
STATS
Weight 507ibs
Top speed 47mph
Range 75 miles
CONSTRUCTION
it was a wooden frame braced with wires and half covered in fabric all timber was individualy carved and shaped to fit in its place and each wire had to be held in by a tiny metal fitting it was a pain to create Sutch a complex aircraft (IRL)
COCKPIT
it was exposed to rain snow cold and all the weather and had a smokey hot engine a few feet Infront of the pilot the fuel tank was almost in his lap and he only had a wooden and wicker seat so wouldn't be very comfortable the only instrument was an oil pressure gauge and airspeed was judged by the feel of wind on your face (primitive or what!) the other controlls were very modern for the time and similar to today's!
HAVE FUN SORRY TO BORE YOU WOTH ALL THAT ;)

THANKS VERY MUCH to DarkLithium for fixing the old version when it was still WIP

Love that you do old planes
Very nice build, extremely fun to fly.
I appreciate that @XVIndustries
@AceMcCloud well, I kinda nailed it because I built it whilst standing next to the real one...BTW the non topic rule doesn't apply to comments, only planes and posts.. You can be a good guy sometimes, just wish I had met this version of you instead of the guy who acted like a complete prat! gg
@XVIindustries A Colonist. We are going to get yelled at because we are off topic...I think the flaps are awesome. 1909 was a great year too. Wow Great Job. The best part you totally nailed the color for the canvas.
@VonRichthofen don't be jealous man! :) take it apart please be my guest and take my planes apart to see how they are built :) you will end up making somthing not good, but great! :)
@AceMcCloud oh, tips on getting a better score, be nice to the golds and they might give you a shoutout...
@AceMcCloud don't get cocky, anyway, what country is your place of birth
@XVIindustries Yeah I'm a huge fan of his World's Famous Mic Stand, and yes I'm extremely jealous of your lead. I'll never win that first place prize of Pickles and Ice Cream for Life.
It's a great plane, I'm kinda jealous about all these plane designs. I just make experimental models, not historically detailed. But enough self pity, it's still AWESOME!!!!
Ever heard of TheOldColonel, @AceMcCloud
@AceMcCloud
@XVIindustries Do the eye roll for me..
@TheLatentImage missclick, I had 3 hrs of sleep last night, some disgruntled bugger was playing bass music full blast all night, I slept 4 am-7am and can't tell my ass from my elbow when I'm tired, this morning I put my boiling hot kettle full of water into my breakfast instead of my tea cup... Then I ended up trying to open the back door with the shed key so I could go outside and try and fix somthing, before realising I was too tired and forced myself to stay up and watch Dr who before ending up here mistaking his comment from mine and the edit button from the report button, and the longer I am here the crankier I'll get so I need to go to sleep bye cya gone have a good day
So you passive and not arrogant and jealous of my position anymore? @AceMcCloud
@AceMcCloud apologies for the mightiest cock-up of the year, I misread that
@XVIindustries I was talking about this..."WHAT IS WRONG WITH SAYING STUFF WITH BOLD TEXT? it's useful for highlighting things or exclaiming LOL or havin a go at window-lickers"....you have got to relax. I was on your side with that.
@XVIindustries don't misuse the report function. There is nothing offensive or inappropriate about the comment you reported. Please use it for its intended purpose, and not because you disagree with what has been said.
Only a grammar Führer like yourself could care for letter case in sutch a way, and I realy do not like the Gramme Waffe they are pathetic and fail to note that WHEN YOU WRITE IN ALL CAPS IT MEANS SOMTHING IMPORTANT if I could I would write your name in miniscule letters to advertise your insignificance to the world. @AceMcCloud
@XVIindustries Letter Case..Like CAPS! Oh No...I'm in for it now! I just did it.
Caps? I don't know what the blinkin ell your talkin about! @AceMcCloud
I'll worry about those Huns, you watch those Caps!
@AceMcCloud anyway, I see you are decorated with the iron cross, have you been around the Hun type recently?
Oh bugger off m8ty! @AceMcCloud
Awesome Work PlanesofOld!
