B-17 Flying Fortress
It's an amazing aircraft. First developed in the 1940s to stop Nazi Germany's war effort, This bomber was the best of heavy bomber family. Although fewer guns than the B-29 superfortess, this thing makes up in pure destruction. Some people also dont know much about the B-17 or the B-29, so I will tell you. Let's start with the B-17. the B-17 has 10-14 guns. (I couldn't find a place for all, so the less known ones are just gone) The B-17 was made by Boeing, and I believe the Boeing 747 was based on the B-17, because they both have a hump (the cockpit is the hump). now the B-29. the guns, unlike the B-17, were not manual guns. They were more like the AC-130's guns. they were controlled by a computer. people think that the 4 barreled gun at the top front was fake, but it was real. now thats alot of damage with a 4-barreled anti-air gun that used 50 CAL MACHINE GUNS!!! anyways, it flew higher, so they were shot down way less. In August of 1945, it dropped the first atomic bomb. the "Little boy" was dropped from the "Enola Gay." the pilot named this after his mother. the "Fat man" is believed to have been dropped from the Enola gay, but it wasn't. Unfortunately, the name has left my mind. this plane is quite the beast, so please enjoy!
