Hawk Trainer Mk 3

147k Pilotmario  8.7 years ago

The introduction of jet aircraft necessitated the creation of an aircraft which can adequately train pilots for them. As a result, a trainer variant of the Hawk was developed. This is a Mk 3 variant of the Hawk Trainer, based on the Mk 3 airframe. Differences include a lengthend canopy and fuselage and a reduction of armament. The Hawk Trainer only has two 30mm Mk 9 guns and four hardpoints. It was even more successful than the Hawk jet, as they continued to serve long after the Hawk Fighter was pulled from frontline service. They have since been replaced by the Hummingbird Trainer. In foreign service, they have been used as an ad-hoc fighter and attack aircraft, and many examples are still in active service abroad. As recently as year 168, Pilotmario Defense Industries operates a pair of Hawk Trainers as chase aircraft during Renegade II testing.
