P-44 Flying Fish Pacific War Challange
The P-44 is a fictional aircraft designed for the Pacific war challange. The design idea behind the P-44 Flying Fish was to create a design that took the lines and form of the historical F4F wildcat and replaced the twin row radial engine with the allison V1710, which powered other famous aircraft such as the P-38. The result is an aircraft that shares the sharp rectangular mid fuslage mounted wings, the curved vertical stabliser. and the angular control surfaces. The F4F wildcat's unique landing gear was also captured in spirit here on the P-44, with the main and secondary struts extending downward so that the wheels are held flush to the fuslage. The firepower also was carried over, with 4 .50 caliber machine guns being on the aircraft. The engine is cooled by two radiators, one under each wing. on the Top of the nose there is a scoop for the supercharger air inlet, which like the F4F she is based on, gives the P-44 higher performance at higher altitude. Controls for this aircraft are standard simpleplanes controls, with no special AG's required. Enjoy!
