Guepardo ASV

Description

The Guepardo Armoured Support Vehicle was developed by SMC Ground Forces to equip the Saltwater Marine Corps of the Principality of Saltwater. However, a revolution in the country led to development being suspended for a period, before resuming in the newly formed Democratic Union of Prieska. The Guepardo eventually entered service with the Prieskan Territorial Ground Forces after nine years of development work.
The vehicle is designed for a capacity of two crew members and eight infantry, carried under the protection of composite armour resistant to rounds up to 20mm in calibre frontally, and 14.5mm all round. Armed with a 30mm autocannon in an RCWS mount, the Guepardo is capable of providing heavy fire support to dismounted infantry.

Weighing in at 26 tons combat weight, the Guepardo is driven by a 450hp engine at speeds of up to 65mph, giving it outstanding maneuverability. Its low weight also allows the vehicle to be readily airlifted into combat zones. The vehicle has enough fuel for 500km of driving, without refuelling. The Guepardo is also equipped with an AMAP-ADS-type hard-kill active protection system to provide an additional layer of defence against incoming ATGMs and tank rounds.
The Guepardo ASV was not deployed during the War of Brazilian Aggression, where Saltee forces took heavy casualties during amphibious operations in the Balearic Islands, as it had not yet been certified for operations from the Navy's amphibious warfare ships. However, the vehicle did later see operations during the Saltee-Namibian Conflict, being among the first assets to enter combat with the invading Namibian armoured columns, with embarked ATGM teams making short work of the unsupported enemy armour.
With the Saltwater Territorial Ground Forces currently reliant on a large mixed force of older infantry fighting vehicles, it is expected that the Defence Council will procure an increased number of Guepardos to replace them, thus becoming the backbone of the Ground Forces' mechanised units. Each vehicle currently costs around $3 million, although this price is slightly higher for export.
