In the early 1980s, Arendale, as a small neutral country, was faced with the problems of aging Saab 35 and 37 fighters and increasing air defense pressure. Due to the lack of technology and funds, the Royal Air Force of Arendale finally decided to purchase France's mirage F-1 as a supplement to its air defense fighters.
