Design & Development
Development of the 159 L began in 1992. The Czech Air Force deployed 72 aircraft in April 1995. The maiden flight of the 159 L took place on 4 August 1997 in a two-seat version. Then on 18 August 1998 the first single-seat version flew, according to Czech customer specifications. April 2000 marked the first delivery of the L 159 to the Czech Air Force.
