80s hot econobox knock-off
EDIT: Special thanks to @MoterKade for spotting this: Please note that the engine in this build is not connected to any wheels. Sorry about that folks. to correct, just connect the front wheels to the engine.
This is technically still a work-in-progress, but wanted to get an entry in soonish.
It started out as an attempt at getting my so-called inboard suspension as compact as possible, then evolved into doing a FWD platform just for the heck of it, then evolved into something to chuck about on Gold Prix, then evolved even further into a rather poor attempt at making a mk. 1 Golf/ Rabbit GTi replica.
I'm still trying to do the last bit, but there's still a lot of work left in that department. Anyhow, for this competition, it's got offroad tyres.
The rest is as-is: FWD and working suspension.
Pitch for forwards or reverse, roll to steer. The left-control works pretty well as a brake regardless of wether your finger's glued on W or not.
Oh yes, it can handle the Oval Office and the bridge behind Yeager. I think. It will explode though if you hit it in the right spot at just the right (read any) speed.

Thanks @jsaret
Thanks @spefyjerbf
Thanks @Jackie :)
I've only dabbled in FWD, The mid-1990+ Isubu in base and sport trims are FF, but the S/T trim upgrades to AWD. All isubus prior to '95 were RWD
Thanks @CarlosDanger13
@kooperOTIS cool might be cause I am on mobile and you're not and mobile might still have a few bugs.
@TheRedStormer Thanks for that :) Not too sure why the steering's busted on your side, not sure if it has anything to do with the steering being done by hinge rotators instead of the wheels themselves. Let me upload a version with built-in wheel steering rather, should sort out all the bugs I think.
@kooperOTIS k btw it looks awesome!
@TheRedStormer Reckon that might be the best approach. Will re-upload shortly.
For some reason it wouldn't turn and I had to modify it so I suggest that you reupload it and fix any problems.
@EternalDarkness Thanks for that, will definitely tag you once it's reached a more advanced state :)
@MoterKade Ah cheers for pointing that out Moterkade. Not too sure how I missed the wheels not being connected to the engine any more, suspect it's due to saving the entire build as a sub assembly and just dragging it back in (note to self: always test before sharing).
Thanks for following too, hoping to have made some progress on this in the next couple of days. If I can get my builds anywhere close to yours, I'd be pretty pleased. Big fan of your work! :)
Looks like a real thing. I will take MoterKade's word about its handling, since I currently don't have the time to test it. Tag me on its final version please, I'll be looking forward to it.
Just took this puppy for a road test. Not bad at all.Just and fyi the front wheels are not assigned to the engine in this download. Easy to do so no biggie. Handling is not to bad being a work in progress. Im super stoked to see what else you do to the body in the way of cosmetics. So far it looks pretty convincing. I did find the the suspension a little stiff for my liking with such a light design but that too is easy to adjust to the drivers liking. All in all a pretty nice build. Looking forward to the finish design. i'll follow you for a while to monitor progress on this :)
Cheers MoterKade
Thanks @MoterKade
