HLC Plopter
"If reality had sneezed, this is what it would conjure up."
you don't know how many layers of whimsy that I had to pass when making this whimsy thing, it's honestly stupendously whimsy, it is seriously questionable at best or so, heugh
to paraphrase Habitual Linecrosser(HLC, check his YouTube if you don't know him, great informative content and humourous world news), V-22 Osprey specifically, "that's the thing, i'm BOTH, call me a Heli-Planer, no no no, a PLOPTER"
HLC Industries Plopter is a 1950-60s project for an VTOL Attacker utilizing the technologies of the relatively newly developed helicopters.
the idea behind it was for it to be faster and retaining the VTOL capability of Helicopters or carrying heavy loads while taking off on a relatively short runways such as carriers or makeshift airfields.
design-wise, it is a very wide and large plane, having a large circular hole on the middle section of the aircraft which on its place is two contra-rotating blades driven by an engine connected by a shaft for VTOL, while for forward movement is a contra-rotating propeller also connected by a shaft gearbox and whatnot, agh.
the late delivery of the projected new engine that should've equipped Plopter resulted in the use of a weaker smaller engine in its place, this was proven to be detrimental as it lost its projected VTOL capability even in light operational load and was reduced to at best an STOL Attacker, only a few early models with said engine was delivered vefore the project was cut off entirely, closing the history of the Plopter
