This was the first design of the legendary Focke-Wulf Fw-190, during this time in Germany the Radial engine was considered old and obselete, but the engine was very reliable as it needed no complex cooling mechansims, so Focke-Wulf designer Kurt Tank developed a specialized cowl to give the apperance of inline engine, but the test pilot said that he felt his fet were aflame the cowl design was a faliure and a more convetional cowl, which was prefected by America, was used and became the Focke-Wulf Fw-190 which we all know today
