Meteor F1 fighter wearing DDay stripes this jet probably was used to defend the fleet at sea as it made its way to the beaches of Normandy. RAF command was justifiably anxious that Meteors didn't operate over occupied territories so we never did get the answer what would win a dog fight between a Meteor or a Me262.
