Arado Ar 234B 'Blitz'
World's first operational jet bomber, the Arado Ar 234, nicknamed 'Blitz' (German for 'lightning') was the fastest bomber in WWII. Due to the relatively low numbers produced, they were mostly used as reconnaissance aircraft. According to the few Allied soldiers that encountered it, the Ar 234 was almost impossible to intercept.
This was also the last German plane to fly over London in April 1945 during a recon mission.
For a bomber of its kind, the Ar 234 really is a Blitz. Weighing almost 22,000 lbs fully loaded while carrying at most 3300 lbs of bombs, this jet bomber was able to quickly bomb enemy targets and get away from interceptors fast enough to not be shot down. The range, however, was quite short (only about 1400 km or 970 miles). It could reach a maximum speed of 461 mph.
Just like many other 'Wunderwaffe', the Ar 234 came too late to change the outcome of the war. Few of them have survived and are currently resting in museums all around the world, reminding us of the technological leaps that took place during mankind's most deadly war.
The only special controls are for the bombs (AG 1 and 2). Be careful with it as it doesn't do very well at low speeds. It's also not as agile as a fighter so fly it with care.

Love the amazing details and beautiful paint job!
@Ian1231100 :D
Cheers man. I'm glad you like it :)
First Nazi plane I've heard of in my entire life. Brings back so many memories.
My fav website besides YouTube and simpleplanes.com@PhantomBladeCorp
Indeed @PhantomBladeCorp
@DestinyAviation cough Luft '46 cough
Interesting, @PhantomBladeCorp. I've always loved German "paper projects" and the like, so maybe I'll make some of those next!
@DestinyAviation After reading a bit more about it there seems to have been a 234A version made for recon but there was also a prototype V7 with four Jumo 004 engines. This V7, in particular, was the first jet aircraft ever to have flown a recon mission.
Gotcha. Well, I think that the A version was also a bomber/recon plane as well, wasn't it? @PhantomBladeCorp
@DestinyAviation This is the 234B variant which was supposed to be a bomber.
Ah, gotcha @PhantomBladeCorp
@DestinyAviation They were on the pre-production versions.
This thing is great! The only thing missing is the rear machine guns for defense (the only reason I know they're supposed to be there is from IL-2: 1946, so...) @PhantomBladeCorp
@PhantomBladeCorp Not entirely. He didn't have complete control of the people. Only with the threat of death but not everyone agreed with Furher.
@ChiChiWerx People still buy into his lies. There are neo-Nazis around and their numbers might increase if today's refugee crisis still continues.
And I'm glad you like it, I really put effort into this build :)
Very nice, build, by the way.
@PhantomBladeCorp not true, many bought into the lies, willingly accepted them and willingly allowed Hitler to rise to power. That's what is so compelling about Nazi Germany, how does a nation of laws and rules fall into something so terrible? If it happened in the 20th Century, it could still happen today, and has, to lesser degrees, around the world. Read William L. Shirer's definitive history of Nazi Germany, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
@BogdanX Had the Reich survived the war, a power struggle would've surely happened between the top ranking Nazis like Himmler, Göring or even Goebbels.
Of all three, Goebbels was the guy that, behind the scenes, trained Hitler to be the speaker that he was.
The only 'real' things that united the Nazis were hatred for Jews and the revival of Germany as a superpower. Both happened but, thankfully, only for a short period of time.
We could say that Mussolini was also an excellent public speaker (just like Hitler was) but there are few videos showing Il Duce holding a speech. Frankly, he was speaking German, while Hitler didn't even bother to learn a few Italian words. Yet, as we know, from a leader that wanted the best for his people and was seeking revenge against the former Entente powers that betrayed Italy during WWI he drifted to the opposite direction, essentially becoming yet another Nazi puppet.
@Othawne No-one fell for his lies. They were forced to accept his lies.
Imagine if german engineers didn't fall to the lies of Adolf Hitler.
That sounds fun, I should check out the multiplayer mod! @PhantomBladeCorp
@Toast That's the whole purpose of the bombs! Forget about bombing bridges or anything else.
It's quite a lot of fun when in multiplayer you can drop the bombs on the runway and people run over them :D Really, this thing is a good terrorist. At least he tells you about the bombs lol
Jokes aside, it can do some dive bombing. Just be careful not to crash as it handles like a turbo potato that was ripped from a 9GAG post (aka not too great).
@PhantomBladeCorp and just last night I landed on the carrier with no parachutes and it was hard.
@PhantomBladeCorp Great plane,you could make fighter version.
@Zerokiller3 Parachutes are for sissies! The hard 'n' rough way is the right way! :D
