AV-13 Chimera VTOL

A twin rotating engine VTOL jet. I got a little creative with this one, as it doesn't use any vtol nozzles, but rather large jet engines that pivot. At about 48%, the plane will have neutral lift, and about 55% is good to get off the ground. Never go above 60% hovering or it will it will probably become unstable. I built this mainly to look cool and be unique, so its forward flight performance isn't amazing, but slow vtol flight (tilted slightly forward) is quite stable. Enjoy! :D

@KCferrari That does help. Thanks! :)

On low physics quality, I managed to go through the ground on the island 190° south of the USS Tiny after dropping out of the sky from angling the engines all the way forward. My game lagged while this was occurring.

Well done man, vertical takeoff and landing were a breeze even on mobile.

@Absolarix yea I know, it's really a bit of a design flaw. It performs fantastic when you use it as a gunship in hover mode, but if you take a look at the wing load, its basically 3x what would give it good smooth response.. in other words, It would need a lot more lift to fly well. What I tend to do is put the engines a bit less than all the way forward for flight. Seems to help a little.

I can make this thing take off vertically take off at 100% and it takes of like it's no-one's business. But when you put it into plane mode to get to true speed the plane is just like "NOPE" and dies.

Fix the forward flight behavior and this plane will be absolutely amazing!

@MEGANOOB Its really meant to be used as a gunship, not a plane, so don't expect much from the flight, its more of a fast travel feature. Its best flown at about 50% thrust with the nozzles angled only about 15 degrees or so.

Awesome thing, but you gotta work a bit with controls - it's horrible!

Looks awesome. Nice work. I would love to see a variation of this with some color in it too.

@Yottabyte1024 Glad you like it ^^ I spent a fair amount of time making sure it was stable for hover maneuvering and firing. @MisterMasada Just following the naming convention :P I found named attack aircraft all the way up to the cancelled A-12 project, so I went with the next number that seemed empty, 13, and I added the V desigation for vtol, like the harrier.

Very nice, I also like what you did with the name, AV-13, like AV-8, y'know the harrier.
