The V1 flying bomb, or the Buzz bomb, was an early cruise missile used by the Luftwaffe in WWII.
The V1 flying bomb was one of the first so-called "Vengeance weapons" designed for the bombing of London. Around 9,500 V1's were fired towards the southeast of England, but only 25% of them hit their target.
The main cause of this was defense measures or mechanical and guidance failures. A manned version of the V-1 was proposed during the late war, but it was later cancelled.
