ELEH-g FDP-13 Flat Duck
Back in the 60s, aircraft manafacturers were all looking for easier to maintain and and more efficient aircraft but most importantly compact as fighter aircraft of the 60s were getting bigger. ELEH-g was the first manafacturer to try and meet these requirments. The leader of ELEH-g wanted something that was streamlined, compact and most importantly simple to fly. Designers and engineers at the time took inspiration from a USAF flying disk which was a full flying circle but this aircraft turned out to be a Semi-Circle for a genious reason. The aircraft's rear section was big enough to fit a engine and intake system and also acted like a wing area which is the aircrafts main source of lift. Designers though that the entire end of the semi-circle could be a air intake that would shuffle plently of air to a single low powered enigne and due to this the engine stayed extremely cool during flight which allowed for better fuel efficiency, reliability and smoother flying. The front of the aircraft was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to further help with the streamlinedness of the aircraft. The end result of the aircraft sure did look funny but it was the most efficient fighter aircraft of the 60s, so efficient that 1 still flys to this day and that sole flying FDP-13 is in fact, the prototype. The handling characteristic was satisfying and smooth, and the manuevurabiliity was very good for an aircraft of this type. Only the RAF operated this aircraft and also this aircraft was put into full time production and was pulled out of production in 1988 and all years it was in production it was a very successful aircraft. 1 For lights, hope you enjoy!
