de Havilland DH.99 Sea Viper

which began development in 1944 during World War II, is a notable close air support aircraft characterized by its significant adaptations to meet the evolving demands of aerial warfare. After undergoing extensive modifications—including enlarging the wings for carrier operations, increasing cannon caliber, and integrating a nose to house an advanced radar system—the Sea Viper was finally commissioned for service in late 1946, and it's modernized variants were finally retired from service with the British Fleet In Arms (FAA) sometime in the late 70s and early 80s when it's was ultimately phased out for something superior. Commonwealth countries still use modernized variants to this day.

Designed with an aerodynamic fuselage, the Sea Viper is powered by two jet engines, enabling commendable speeds despite its subsonic classification. It boasts an effective armament of four 1000 lbs bombs, 14 rockets mounted on wing pods, and four 30mm cannons that converge at approximately 400 meters, angled at -1°, providing formidable firepower against ground targets.

The aircraft features advanced radar and radar warning receiver (RWR) systems for enhanced situational awareness in combat environments. Maneuverability is improved through the use of flaps and flaperons, allowing for agile performance during engagements. The Sea Viper also incorporates early ejection seats, enhancing pilot safety during emergencies. With a crew composed of a main pilot and a weapons systems officer (wizzo), the Sea Viper is an effective platform for close air support, able to deliver decisive firepower to ground forces while maintaining high operational readiness.
