In 1959. Jared Chambers took over Sportlight Aircraft's racing division. Shortly after the division's design team went to work on their next generation race plane. The result was the XR-3 Hermes. The Hermes was a ground up, purpose built racer like it's predecessor, but it was built around a modified Bristol Centaurus 18 salvaged from a Hawker Sea Fury. The plane sported a contra-rotating prop, but unlike it's doomed predecessor, was to be a single engine monoplane.

The plane was a monster, able to push well over 400mph, and went on to compete in the 1960 air nationals. The plane's success in the races guaranteed the future for Sportlight's racing division, which went on to become Aeropower Sport Inc in the 1970's.

Notes:

When taking off, throttle up to about 25% and keep the stick back until lift-off. Then you can open the throttle up full.

When landing, use those air brakes, which are set to VTOL slider. Stall speed is just under 90mph.

HAPPY FLYING!

(P.S. Might need a little more fuel. Adding a few extra gallons to the wings shouldn't throw the COM off too much if you want a little extra flight time.)
