@Flash0of0green none. Two use lockback system, one uses frame lock and needed some thightening of the very poorly made axle (it's held by a screw). I didn't do the kind of chopping guys in YouTube videos do though. These are two 8cm pocket knives and a 20cm large folder. I did some playing with the big one, though not a lot, while the smaller ones are my everyday carry knives. My current one, lockback with wood and brass handle, is quite dirable and well fitted. Its steel is a bit soft, or so it seemed when I was remaking the blade, but I only paid some $5 for it and for that price range, it is incredible.
@EternalDarkness How much blade rattle and blade play did your knifes have when you tried chopping? Because i guarantee that you had at least a little.
@Flash0of0green my folders never had any problem with some light chopping. They're chinese made cheap knives, though I redid blade geometry with some grinding and polishing. regardless, you need at least 85mm of handle (optimally at least 100) for a comfortable grip, and a blade for useable pocket knife doesn't need to be longer than 85mm. A knife with your mechanism would be a nice novelty, but it wouldn't surpass simpler designs in practicality.
@Enderhawk frame lockers have problems but you probably knew that already.
@EternalDarkness couldent do any real cooping with it do to the fact that if you were to try the blade would snap off. i know i have dune this.
I‘m thinking it will be a frame locker, with a lock to lock the extended handle to the open blade position @Flash0of0green
I‘ll definitely see what i can do with improving the design, see if i can optimize it more for practical use sometime
@Flash0of0green extra length allow you to grip it further from the center of mass, allowing you to chop with it.
@EternalDarkness doesn't have a tang so the extra length kinda pointless.
@Enderhawk frame locker or locking blade?
Interesting design, but the blade is very poorly made. I also don't see benefits of this design. Longer handle provides better and more versatile grip when the blade is unfolded, while it is only annoying when the blade is folded and you're trying to pack the knife into the pocket.
